This page explains how the Local Business Schema Shopify app handles your store data, how billing works, and your rights as a merchant. It is intended to satisfy Shopify App Store policy requirements for a clear and accessible privacy and data use policy.
Who we are
Local Business Schema is a Shopify app that helps merchants generate and manage structured data (schema markup) for their online store, with a focus on local business visibility and rich results in search engines.
Information we access
When you install Local Business Schema, Shopify provides us with access tokens and scopes that allow the app to technically read certain types of data in your store. The exact access scopes are shown during installation and in your Shopify admin.
- Store and product information – The app may read basic store or product details that are necessary to generate on-store structured data (schema markup). This access is used only to power the app features and not to build separate profiles or databases.
- Theme or storefront data (where scoped) – The app may read certain theme or storefront settings that are required to inject or configure structured data.
- Billing status – All billing is handled by Shopify. We only receive information about your subscription status (active, trial, cancelled) and do not receive your full payment details.
Apart from what is necessary to operate the app, we do not independently collect, store, sell, or rent merchant or customer personal data. We do not intentionally collect sensitive information such as payment card numbers or Shopify account passwords.
How we use your data
We use the data accessed through Shopify strictly to provide and improve the Local Business Schema service:
- To generate and manage schema markup (structured data) for your store pages.
- To display configuration options and reporting within the app interface.
- To troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and maintain the stability of the app.
- To determine billing status and entitlement to features according to your current plan.
We do not sell or rent your store data to third parties. We do not use your store's data for unrelated advertising, external profiling, or building separate marketing databases.
Data storage and security
Local Business Schema uses secure, authenticated connections to communicate with Shopify APIs. Where we store data (for example, app settings or session information), we aim to minimize what is stored and retain it only for as long as it is needed to operate the app.
We implement technical and organizational measures designed to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data sharing
We may share limited data with trusted service providers that help us host, monitor, or analyze the app, but only to the extent necessary to perform those services. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and may not use it for any other purpose.
We may also disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect our rights or the rights of others.
Merchant and customer rights
As a Shopify merchant, you retain ownership of your store data. You can uninstall the app at any time from your Shopify admin, which revokes our future access to your store through Shopify's APIs.
Depending on your location and your customers' locations, you or your customers may have additional rights under privacy laws such as the GDPR or similar regulations. If you receive a data access, correction, or deletion request from one of your customers related to data processed by Local Business Schema, you can contact us and we will reasonably assist you in fulfilling that request where we are able to do so.
Cookies and tracking
Local Business Schema may use cookies or similar technologies within the app interface to maintain sessions, remember preferences, and improve user experience. Any data collected in this way is used solely to operate and improve the app and not to build third-party advertising profiles.
You remain responsible for maintaining appropriate cookie notices and consent mechanisms on your storefront in accordance with applicable law.
Billing and refunds
Billing for Local Business Schema is processed through Shopify's Billing API. You will see charges and plan details directly in your Shopify admin.
- Trials – Local Business Schema includes a 7‑day free trial. You will not be charged until the 7‑day trial period ends, unless otherwise indicated in the Shopify billing screen during installation.
- Upgrades and downgrades – Changing your plan may adjust your billing according to the information presented in the Shopify billing confirmation screen.
- Cancellation – You can cancel at any time by uninstalling the app from your Shopify admin. Future charges will stop once the current billing period ends.
If you believe you have been billed in error or have questions about charges, please contact us and we will review your account.
Retention and data deletion
We retain only the minimal configuration and usage data that is necessary to provide the app, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
If you uninstall the app, we will remove or anonymize data that is no longer needed for these purposes within a reasonable period of time, subject to any legal obligations that require us to keep certain records.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, our practices, or applicable laws. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of Local Business Schema after any changes to this policy constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
